Crafted from tarps that once covered the beds of cross-country cargo trucks, this fabric has endured every kind of rain, heat, and wind. Since these tarps gets replaced often, one company, The Real Deal, found a way to re-purpose this stylish fabric and keep it out of the waste stream. Sporting a rugged, tree-hugging, “broken in” look makes each hat unique and eco-friendly. The Real Deal has recently branched out into making messenger bags, totes, duffle bags, purses and backpacks in this same durable earth friendly fabric.

recycled lighting

Created by artist and sculptor, Bill Hess, from Ideas on Legs these lamps are some of his finer creations made from recycled glass. Bill has a spirit that is dear to our hearts when he states on his website:

“Admittedly, I feel frugal, but more so, I feel ecological. I strive for efficiency and intelligence in utilizing objects and materials that are beautiful and readily available. I get thrills in the adventures of combing junkyards, recycling centers, and dumpsters.”

Created in his studio in Charlottesville, VA, he has a whole slew of products from lighting, to clocks, bowls, candlesticks, coasters and jewelry.
