restore, recycled, repurpose
Spring is on the way! and it brings me some motivation to gussy up the house and get it looking its best. What better way to go about a home renovation project than to use green design principles and decorate using sustainable materials and repurposed items? If “recycled treasure” is your passion and clean beautiful arrangements of your rooms is your desire, then this is a great book for you. Full of inspiration! This is a “Country Living” book which rarely disappoints to deliver brilliant ideas and stellar photography. If you want a home to feel comfy while being ecofriendly, this book will help to point you the way to create your space originally, economically and with healthy materials and green principles.

recycled home
Recycled Home by Mark and Sally Bailey received “so-so” reviews on Amazon. Positive reviews mentioned its clever ideas and beautiful photography. The one negative reviewer thought the cover was the books best feature. I perused this book at the book store and spent quite a bit of time getting lost in the clean interiors filled with fun found objects. I thought it had a lot of good ideas.

Recycled Fork Art

Sunday, March 6th, 2011

Fancy silver flatware has gone out of style on the table (for goodness sakes, it can’t go in the dishwasher! horrors!) but is getting a new life crafted into jewelry as rings, bracelets and necklaces.

From North Salt Lake, Judson Jenning’s ipod holders (called the iFork, of course!) are completely adorable. He creates all kinds of wacky art from spoons and forks and you can see his wares on his site www.forkedupart.com and can connect on his Forked Up Art facebook page. Judson also has an etsy store where some of the product is a bit more edgy.

Another etsy artist working with recycled forks is the Fork Whisperer. Beautiful spoon rings and fork bracelets.

recycled flatware jewelry

Prices range from $39.90 to $149.99

Created by Jeremy & Jenni Eversen from Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, this item is called the “I Love Forking Bracelet Cuff” ….it seems that fork artists have lots of fun! $34.99 at Jjevensen’s Etsy Shop. Check out the website, JJEvensenArt.com to view more examples of silverware jewelry, coat hooks and windchimes.

Here are some resources:

Spoon Jewelry book

This is the bible for learning how to make jewelry from flatware …only problem is that it is usually out of print and unavailable.

This is a product created by Maryann Cherubino which consists of a several high quality videos showing you how to make bracelets and necklaces with recycled forks. The videos cover: materials, tools, preparation, bending forks, using stones, and making bracelets and necklaces.
This group of videos costs $29.99 at Making Fork Bracelets.com
