bits
Those are the words of wisdom from Rhonda Brewer-Chaparro aka “oddartist”. This prolific (and eco-friendly) California artist has an Etsy shop, but these racy earrings (made from the ‘tasty parts’ of recycled romance novels) are from her Zibbet shop. The line is called Naughty Bits, and of course, you’ll never find the same bit of naughtiness twice!
$12.00 for each pair of earrings at Zibbet
(folks, this is a serious good deal!!)

basketfroggoat

Created from recycled roof copper, you need to check out the work of Minnesotan artist Beryl Wells Hamilton. Her functional pieces: baskets, bowls, fountains, bird baths and boxes are often treated with boric acid, heated to red hot and then quenched in water resulting in beautiful colors and patinas. She also has a line of decorative figures which are whimsical and cute. You can choose between frogs, turtles, pigs, roosters and more. I recommend her site if you are looking for an early xmas present or a winter wedding gifts. Beautiful and ecofriendly!
Prices range from $60.00- $90.00 for Baskets and Bowls, $89.00 for Pigs at Copper Creations by Beryl

Bee habitat sculptures created from recycled materials

bee

Tucson artist and landscape designer Greg Corman and metal artist, Tidi Ozer have teamed up to create sculptures and garden art from recycled wood and steel that doubles as a habitat for stingless, solitary, native bees. In the US alone there are more than 4000 species of these native bees! Many of them lack habitat for nesting in urban landscapes. The bees that nest in these bee habitat pieces occur across the US, so they have ecological value everywhere. (The bees that are attracted to these habitats are NOT honeybees and do not sting.) If you want more info on native bees, this is a recommended blog resource from the site.
