Cris and Marta, I love your wallets! They're so colorful. I'm in the process of launching my own recycled products website so you both serve as an inspiration to me. Best of luck to you! And Thank you too GreatGreenGoods for bringing these wallets to our attention!

Thanks to all the readers of this blog for you interest.

My name is Cristobal and I make the Juicywallets. They are a project created by my girlfriend, Marta and I. We are terribly worried about the environmental degradation and we love all the recycled accessories that are now in fashion. We live in New York and see a great diversity in cultures and design. Back when we started there were a lot of bags made with plastic juice containers from the philipines, we loved them and now that I think of they were part of our inspiration.

Recycling and in our case, reusing is a powerful symbol of environmental concerns. Our wallets are a conversation piece. They surprise and we hope that they inspire a dialogue on our lifestyles and impact on the planet.

Recycling and reusing gives us an alternative in our throw away society, It invites us to appreciate, to look at things under a new light and be creative.

Of course we know that other actions need to be taken if we are going to radically reduce the impact we have on our planet, but at least it helps a little bit.

Thank you for your comments on our incomplete website. Even though I am a web designer I have been too busy to work on it, But I promise I will work on it soon.

Thanks, Cris and Marta

Cool! I didn't mean the comments above to come across quite so mean sounding - I think they look really cool and I'd totally use one if I knew it was indie-made.

You ask important questions! I did notice on the site that the wallets are "designed" in New York City. I've emailed the folks at JuicyWallets and have invited them to join in on our conversation.

thanks for stopping by!

I think the concept is good, but their website sucks! It took ages to get through the flash intro to get to the wallets, a pet peeve of mine. And then, the About page doesn't tell you where the items are made.

Are they handmade in the US?

Are the made in China and imported?

Is it a small company with one guy hand making them, or is it all machine done?

They didn't answer these questions at all. I like to know more about what I buy, but that could just be how I shop :)
