Recycled Gold Commitment Rings
These 18K recycled gold bands are hand cast by local artisans and come in yellow gold, white gold and rose gold. A choice of three finishes is available: Silt, Polished or Stone. These rings are partially made from recycled metal. There is a load of great information on recycled metals on the greenkarat web site. Their philosophy is: “Our greater goal at greenKarat is to end destructive gold and diamond mining. We do not, however, strive to force that change through radical activism. While activist organizations play a critically important role in educating and motivating consumers, we believe that widespread and permanent change will ultimately occur through the voice of consumer buying decisions.”

I think this recycled gold movement is great. Gold looks the same new or recycled..so why not? Todd Reed uses only recycled gold and he works with raw diamonds from conflict free areas. It’s very on-traditional but so gorgeous. My favorite pieces of his are in his rose cut series. The rose cut diamonds are recycled from vintage pieces. Really incredible! Take a look at http://www.alteredspacegallery.com. I think he deserves some attention.

My girlfriend – fiancee – found rings at Altered Space while we were visiting friends in Los Angeles. Here is their website: http:www.AlteredSpaceGallery.com. We decided on the Todd Reed rings. I am relieved to find a ring I can live with. In fact I really like it! Deeni loves the rings she ordered. She went wild over his work. For me, the look is important but equally important was the fact they are recycled 18K gold and he buys diamonds directly from a mine in Australia where there is a guarantee they are ethically mined. That means a lot to both of us. You can see Todd Reed’s work at the altered space website at this page: http://www.AlteredSpaceGallery.com/toddreed. gotta give the guy credit!! Thanks, Joe C.
